In a touching tribute to a beloved member of the Loughton Shul community led by Rabbi Yanky and Rochel Abrams, family, friends, and members of the community came together on Sunday morning, 12 Av 5783 Year of Hakhel, to dedicate a new Sefer Torah in memory of Lewis Lane. Known for his unwavering love for Torah and compassionate nature, Lewis left an enduring impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rabbi Yanky shared about how the 2 final mitzvos in the Torah, Hakhel and writing a Torah was being done at this very moment and how they both show to importance of each individual how everyone has a indispensable role to play.
Upon reaching the synagogue, a heartwarming sight greeted the attendees. All the other Torahs were brought out to greet the new addition, reflecting the unity and harmony that Lewis had fostered within the community. The atmosphere exuded joy, with dancing and singing resonating through the sacred space.
The hakafot, the cherished tradition of circling the bima with the Torah, took place amidst live music, elevating the spirit of the event to new heights. The children were treated to bags of sweets, adding an extra layer of delight to the festive occasion.
