Explosions Rock Bus Depots in Bat Yam; Investigation Underway
The blasts occurred in the Menachem Begin and Wolfson parking lots, with emergency services rushing to contain the fires. Firefighting crews managed to quickly extinguish the flames, preventing further damage.
Israeli police, working alongside the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), have opened an urgent probe into the explosions. Large police forces arrived at the scene, searching for suspects and scanning for additional explosive devices. The head of Israel’s police, Commissioner Kobi Shabtai, visited the site to assess the situation.
Bat Yam Mayor Tzvika Brot addressed the public, confirming that “two explosions occurred in two buses that were parked in city bus lots. Fortunately, no passengers were present, and no one was injured.” He added that authorities are conducting extensive searches and implementing precautionary measures to prevent further incidents.
A police spokesperson described the event as a narrowly avoided disaster: “It’s a miracle. This could have been a major catastrophe.”
Suspected Terror Attack Sparks Political Reactions
The explosions come amid heightened tensions, with officials not ruling out the possibility of a terror attack. Police have not yet identified the perpetrators, but the investigation is focusing on potential threats from terror organizations operating in the region.
Former National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir swiftly responded, blaming government policies for emboldening terrorists. “When the government signs disgraceful surrender deals with the enemy instead of raining hell upon them, they gain the appetite to escalate their attempts to murder Jews on a large scale. These are exactly the consequences we warned about,” he stated.

In response to the incidents, authorities have called for increased vigilance. The police have urged the public to report any suspicious activity, while bus operators have been instructed to conduct thorough inspections before and after each trip.
