An Israeli man and his two daughters were injured in a shooting attack near the entrance to the yishuv of Tekoa in Gush Etzion on Sunday morning.
A 36-year-old Israeli driver was shot and seriously wounded. The man’s daughters, aged 9 and 14, who were in the car with him, were lightly injured by shattered glass. All three were evacuated to Shaare Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem.
The terrorists who committed the attack from their passing vehicle fled the scene.
IDF forces arrived at the scene and launched an hours-long manhunt, finally capturing the terrorist responsible for the shooting on Sunday afternoon in a mosque in Beis Lechem after a gun battle. Two additional suspects were also arrested and the terrorist’s car and M-16 were confiscated.
The victims were later identified as El-Rai Kapach, a father of five and resident of the yishuv of Nokdim, and his daughters Rochel, 9, and Avigayil, 14. Eighteen years ago, Kapach’s in-laws, Dov and Rachel Kol, H’yd, were murdered in a similar shooting attack in Gush Katif.
Kapach’s condition was stabilized and he underwent emergency surgery for gunshot wounds to his upper body. His family members have requested that the public daven and say Tehillim for the refuah sheleimah of El-Rai ben Batsheva (אלראי בן בת-שבע) b’toch sha’ar cholei Yisrael.
