In an emotional and jubilant moment, three Israeli hostages – Arbel Yehud, Gadi Mozes, and Agam Berger – along with five Thai nationals, were finally released after enduring months of harrowing captivity at the hands of Hamas. After 482 days of being held by Hamas in Gaza, Agam Berger, an IDF soldier, was freed in the morning. Gadi Mozes, 80, and Arbel Yehud, 29, followed shortly thereafter, along with the five Thai citizens—Thenna Pongsak, Sathian Suwannakhan, Sriaoun Watchara, Seathao Bannawat, and Rumnao Surasak—who had been held captive by Islamic Jihad.
The moment these brave souls crossed into Israeli territory was nothing short of a miracle. As the hostages made their way to an initial reception point in southern Israel, the joy was palpable. Arbel Yehud, who was reunited with her family, took a flight with them aboard an Israeli Air Force helicopter to receive medical treatment and reunite with loved ones. Gadi Mozes and the five Thai nationals were also immediately transferred to the hospital, where they were met by officials and treated for their physical and emotional wounds.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed deep relief and gratitude for their return, emphasizing that the Israeli government is committed to bringing home every last hostage. “Our hearts are with them, and our government is tirelessly working to ensure the safe return of all our citizens and those missing,” Netanyahu said.
