Special education students from around the world recently volunteered on behalf of the University of Haifa in a variety of places, including the soup kitchen of Chabad House in Haifa, which provides daily meals for dozens of elderly Holocaust survivors and children from difficult backgrounds.
Among the students were those with disabilities, who also played a role in assisting with ongoing activities. They brought joy to the staff and residents alike.
The director of the soup kitchen, Rabbi Gachlat, commented, “It’s amazing to see how the students’ acts of kindness merge with the activities of Chabad House and create positive outcomes.”
Rabbi Yehuda Ginsburg, director of the Chabad House, said, “For 21 years now since my parents, Rabbi Dov Ginsburg and his wife, opened the soup kitchen, providing daily meals for hundreds of adults and children with true dedication. Recently, due to the accessibility of the soup kitchen, we hosted students, including those with special needs, to volunteer with us. They saw the nature of our activities, helped wherever possible, and were of great assistance. It’s moving to see the connection of students from around the world to our acts of kindness.”
