Smotrich Calls for Full Gaza Reoccupation if Hostages Are Not Released by Saturday

“From the start, I said that negotiating with the devil is a mistake,” Smotrich declared. “Now, after signing a bad deal, the devil is mocking us – announcing that it refuses to release the hostages in the upcoming phase on Saturday.”
Smotrich urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take a hardline approach, echoing comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump.
“I call on the Prime Minister to send a clear message: Either all the hostages are released by Saturday, or the phased releases and negotiations are over. Hamas will face the full force of Israel’s military – no electricity, no water, no fuel, no humanitarian aid. Only fire and brimstone from our aircraft, artillery, tanks, and soldiers,” he said.
Smotrich further proposed a full reoccupation of Gaza and the removal of its Palestinian population, aligning with what he described as Trump’s vision for the territory. “This is the painful price our enemy understands,” he stated.
The finance minister’s comments come amid heightened tensions as Hamas announced a delay in the latest hostage release, prompting Israel to increase military readiness in the south.
