Residents in the Chassidic enclave of Kfar Chabad heard gunshots coming from an open area outside of the village last night.
Once police arrived at the scene, they found an abandoned vehicle. On the floor of the car they discovered an empty cartridge, seemingly from a high powered assault rifle.
Not long after, a suspect arrived at the scene, claiming the car was stolen from him. Police detained him on the scene.
Minutes later, a M-16 assault rifle, cartridges, ammunition, a gun-mounted scope, and a knife were found in a nearby orchard.
The suspect, 26, is a resident of Ramla. He is to have a hearing today, where the police are requesting an extension to his detention.
