On January 11, during a joint operation, Shin Bet operatives, along with Yamam and IDF forces from the Samaria Brigade, apprehended two terrorists while they were en route to carry out a shooting attack in Huwara. Upon arrest, two M16 rifles were found in their possession.
Further investigation revealed that Zakarneh and Abu Zeid had been acting under the orders of terrorists from the Jenin Battalion and were in possession of a 100-kilogram explosive device intended for a bombing attack targeting IDF personnel. The information gathered during their interrogation proved pivotal in preventing the attack.
A follow-up operation on Monday night in Kabatiya led to the arrest of additional terror cell members. More weapons and a powerful explosive device were seized during the raid. The ongoing investigation is continuing, with Shin Bet officials focusing on gathering additional intelligence.
