    Shabbaton Weekend Inspires Belarusian Youth

More than forty Jewish teenagers from various cities across Belarus recently came together for a unique and impactful Shabbaton, organized by EnerJew, the Jewish youth movement of FJC across the FSU. This special event, which was held off-schedule, was a collaborative effort between EnerJew and the local Jewish community of Bobruisk • Full Story, Photos

The Chief Rabbi of Bobruisk, Shaul Chababo, described the Shabbaton as “an inspiring experience that catered to both body and soul.” The event featured a rich array of activities designed to engage and uplift the participants. These included social games that fostered camaraderie, lavish meals that offered a taste of Jewish hospitality, and pampering accommodations that ensured comfort throughout the weekend. The program also included educational components such as Jewish heritage classes and vibrant lectures, as well as tours and attractions that highlighted the richness of Jewish culture.

The teenagers, who traveled from multiple cities across Belarus, left the Shabbaton feeling uplifted and motivated. Rabbi Chababo noted that the event was designed to strengthen their connection to their Jewish roots and heritage, particularly during challenging times. The spontaneous organization of this Shabbaton, which took place after the end of the regular seasonal activities, was aimed at providing a morale boost to the participants.

Accompanying the teenagers were seven professional staff members from EnerJew, along with a group of dynamic young rabbis. Their involvement was crucial in ensuring the success of the three-day weekend, which was crafted to offer a meaningful and supportive experience in the face of current challenges. The Shabbaton not only provided spiritual enrichment but also reinforced the participants’ commitment to their Jewish identity and community.
