In his proclamation, Mayor Lurie acknowledged the Rebbe’s dedication to education and moral development, highlighting the role of values-based learning in shaping a better society. The event, held at City Hall, featured Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi delivering Birchas Kohanim and Rabbi Shmulik Friedman emphasizing the national significance of the initiative.
Mayor Lurie praised Chabad’s contributions to the community, with Deputy Chief of Staff Matthew Goudeau expressing admiration for their outreach and educational work. The declaration continues a tradition begun by Mayor London Breed in 2021 and aligns with the national Education Day USA, recognized annually by U.S. presidents since 1978.
