Rabbi Margolin Targeted in Antisemitic Campaign Across Brussels
An antisemitic campaign targeting Rabbi Menachem Margolin, head of the European Jewish Association and a prominent Shliach, has sparked outrage after his photos were posted across Brussels alongside inciteful messages accusing him of lobbying for “genocide.” • Full Story
The posters, which appeared on walls and public bulletin boards throughout the city, labeled Rabbi Margolin and several of his colleagues as “lobbyists for mass murder,” in what he described as a “dangerous escalation” of antisemitic rhetoric in Europe.
In a statement posted to social media, Rabbi Margolin responded:
“When your face is displayed across the capital of Europe under the label ‘genocidal murderer’ — that’s not criticism. It’s a threat. It’s slander. It’s targeting. This isn’t a debate — it’s dangerous persecution.”
He warned that the campaign was not a random act but a “well-organized effort” designed to delegitimize European Jewry, stigmatize Jewish leaders, and incite hostility and violence.
“This campaign seeks to brand Jews with a grave moral stain and turn us into easy targets for both physical and political attacks,” he said. “The growing influence of our work seems to have made us a target — but it will not deter us.”
Rabbi Margolin called on the Belgian government, EU institutions, and law enforcement to respond swiftly and decisively. He confirmed that his organization had already made urgent appeals to authorities, demanding the immediate removal of the posters and the opening of a thorough criminal investigation.
“We are still waiting for a clear, public, and unequivocal condemnation from the Belgian government and the EU. We also demand increased protection for Jewish leaders, institutions, and communities throughout Europe,” he added.
The rabbi concluded with a message of resolve:
“We will continue to raise a strong, clear voice for truth, justice, and the defense of democratic values. With G-d’s help, we will act — and we will succeed.”
As of this writing, no official condemnation or arrests have been announced.
