Rabbi Cunin Responds to Tucker Carlson’s Remarks

In a letter sent today (20 Adar), Rabbi Shlomo Cunin, head Shliach of the West Coast, addressed hundreds of Shluchim throughout California and neighboring states, encouraging them to strengthen their Shlichus and increase their outreach efforts as the month of Nissan approaches.
Rabbi Cunin wrote the letter as he prepares to travel to the Rebbe for Shabbos Mevorchim Chodesh Nissan, referring to it as “the month of miracles and the Rebbe’s month,” and reflecting on the unique role of Shluchim during this time.
Learning from the story of Choni HaMe’agel, who prayed persistently until proper rain fell for Klal Yisroel, Rabbi Cunin emphasized that the lesson applies directly to the mission of every Shliach today. Just as Choni HaMe’agel refused to settle for partial results, he wrote, Yidden must continue davening and working tirelessly until the complete Geulah arrives.
The letter also referenced the theme of the week’s Parsha dealing with the construction of the Mishkan. Rabbi Cunin cited the teaching explained by the Rebbe, in the maamar of Yud Shevat—that the posuk “ושכנתי בתוכם” teaches that Hashem dwells within every Jew. The task of Shluchim, he explained, is to transform Shtus D’leumas Zeh into shtus D’kedusha, turning the “Atzei Shittim” into the beams of the Mishkan by channeling passion and energy toward holiness.
Addressing recent public comments made by Tucker Carlson, who claimed that Chabad is pushing the United States toward war with Iran in order to bring about the building of the Third Beis Hamikdash, Rabbi Cunin responded by clarifying the true mission of Chabad Shluchim.
Rather than political influence, he wrote, the work of Chabad Shluchim is simple and clear: helping another Yid perform one more Mitzvah.
“One more Tefillin, one more Mezuzah, one more Mikvah, one more Neshek,” he wrote, explaining that bringing Hashem’s presence into the life of every Jew is the path that ultimately leads to the building of the Beis Hamikdash HaShlishi.
As communities around the world begin preparing for Pesach, Rabbi Cunin urged Shluchim to expand their outreach efforts, distributing more Matzah, inviting more people to the Seder, and connecting with more Yidden than ever before.
“Millions of people have now heard about the Rebbe and about us, now we must do more and more.”
Rabbi Cunin concluded the letter with a tefillah that through these efforts, Hashem will bring the complete Geulah, when the Rebbe will lead the Jewish people together with the building of the Third Beis Hamikdash in Yerushalayim.
He also shared good news that his wife, Rebbetzin Adel Miriam bas Bluma Leah, is feeling much better, thanking the Shluchim for their tefillos and asking that Hashem grant her a complete Refuah Sheleimah among all of Klal Yisroel.
Ending on a Chassidishe note, Rabbi Cunin encouraged the Shluchim to continue their work “in the spirit of Lechatchila Ariber,” going above and beyond every limitation.
