A Pidyon Haben is not a very common celebration in general, let alone to have two at the same time.

After giving birth on Ches Shvat to their firstborn son Gershon, the Shluchim of Springfield, IL, Rabbi Mendy and Sara Turen were delighted to share the unique event of a Pidyon Haben with their community.

31 days later, this past Monday, about 50 people from the community of Chabad of Springfield, IL came to share in the personal Simcha of their Shluchim.

At the Pidyon Haben, Rabbi Turen used the moment to announce that if any of the participants fit the criteria necessitating a Pidyon Haben but had not previously had one, they should take the opportunity to now perform their own Pidyon Haben.

Excitedly, one of the community members jumped at the chance, after realizing that he too qualified for this special Mitzvah. Indeed, the additional Pidyon Haben added much joy to the already joyous occasion.
