The Ohr Avner Chabad school in Queens, established and led by renowned philanthropist Levi Levayev, is embarking on a major expansion. To mark the beginning of the new school year, a grand ceremony was held this week to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new building for the ‘Ganenu Academy,’ which serves both boys and girls.
The ceremony commenced with opening remarks from the institution’s directors, Rabbi Shmuel and Shavi Kogan, followed by the recitation of the twelve Pesukim by students. Rabbi Zalman Zvulunov, director of Ohr Avner, recited the Rebbe’s Capital, and Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Wolovick, the deputy director, blew the Shofar for the attendees.
The highlight of the event was the laying of the ceremonial cornerstone by the directors of the institution and the Shluchim to the Bukharian community in Queens and across the United States. The ceremony included expressions of deep gratitude to philanthropist Levi Levayev for his foundational support and generous contributions to the institutions. Special recognition was also given to his daughter, Chagit Levayev–Sofiev, for her significant role in supporting the institutions’ expansion efforts.
