The Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City is set to unveil its first Holocaust exhibit specifically designed for children. Titled “Courage to Act: Rescue in Denmark,” the exhibit will open in the fall of 2023 and is intended for elementary school students aged nine and above.
It will commemorate the 80th anniversary of what the museum has described as “one of the most effective episodes of mass resistance in modern history,” referring to the efforts of ordinary Danish citizens to save nearly 95% of Denmark’s Jewish population from the Nazis during World War II.
To bring this inspiring story to life, the exhibit will utilize high-tech design, interactive media, and dynamic hologram technology to fully immerse visitors.
It will also focus on themes of separation, bravery, and resilience to help young visitors connect the events of the past to their own lives and consider the dangers of prejudice and the potential for compassionate and courageous collective action.
