Severe flooding wreaked havoc across New York State, particularly in Rockland and Orange Counties.

The National Weather Service had issued flash flood warnings as heavy rainfall was anticipated, and the predictions came true.

The Palisades Interstate Parkway near Stony Point was completely submerged, leading to its closure. Route 6, connecting Orange and Rockland Counties, was washed away by the deluge. Disturbing videos and photos captured vehicles submerged underwater in West Point, Stoney Point, and other affected areas.

The US Military Academy at West Point was also flooded, resulting in stranded cars and submerged homes. Emergency transmissions revealed police officers discussing abandoning their submerged State Trooper vehicles.

Flight cancellations were already being recorded, with over 1,355 flights affected, including significant cancellations at LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy, and Newark airports.

Tragically, one person lost their life in the flooding. The situation was deemed life-threatening, leading to road closures and warnings from local officials to stay indoors until the heavy rainfall subsided.
