The NYPD’s Richie Taylor has shared an audio recording assuring the Jewish community that the current threat of attack does not include New York City.
We obtained the recording and confirmed that it is authentic. In it, Mr. Taylor, an orthodox Jew, confirms that the FBI’s warning of a threat against shuls does not include New York City.
He said, “In regard to the FBI’s tweet from the Newark office of a broad credible threat against synagogues in New Jersey, there are no credible threats to the Jewish community in NYC or any community in NYC.”
Mr. Taylor is the Commanding Officer of NYPD’s Community Affairs Outreach.
On Thursday, the FBI’s Newark office issued a stark warning that it had received “credible information” about a nonspecific but widescale threat to shuls in New Jersey.
The FBI described the threat as “broad.” A senior law enforcement official was quoted in News 4 New York saying that the warning was issued in “an abundance of caution.”
“We ask at this time that you take all security precautions to protect your community and facility,” reads part of the FBI tweet. “We shall share more information as soon as we can. Stay alert. In case of emergency call police.”
