MID-HUDSON – The Chabad Centers in Poughkeepsie headed by Rabbi Yacov Borenstein, and Monroe headed by Rabbi Pesach Burston held ribbon-cutting ceremonies Sunday on new buildings.
The Poughkeepsie center includes a larger Shul. Rabbi Yacov Borenstein said it is a time to grow.
“It’s a brand new beautiful building. It should be a beacon of light, and we should be able to gather here for many good occasions. And bring in people who have never walked into a synagogue or any kind of Jewish center.”
The Shul is decorated with large arched windows inlaid with vistas of Kever Rochel and the Old City of Yerushalayim, and is part of the Sanderson and Osofsky Chabad Center, named after its prime contributors.
Meanwhile, in Monroe, also on Sunday, the Chabad Center of Orange County cut the ribbon on its new center with shluchim Rabbi Pesach Burston and Mrs. Chana Burston.
