What to Know: Visa or ESTA
The increased fee applies to standard visa applications, including for those coming for extended stays, study programs, or non-tourist purposes.
Travelers eligible under the Visa Waiver Program — including those with biometric passports — may still opt for ESTA authorization instead. ESTA allows short-term entry (up to 90 days) for tourism or business, and remains unaffected by the new visa fee hike.
