This week, Rabbi Shmuel and Chani Slavin, along with their family, have embarked on a new Shlichus at the campus in the city of Tzfas. They will be working with the three developing colleges in the city. Chabad on Campus in Safed will operate under Rabbi Gabriel Marzel, the director of the central Chabad House in the city, and in coordination with the Rebbe’s Shluchim in the area.
Additionally, Rabbi Shlomo and Rinat Rakover have begun their shlichut at the campus in the city of Acre. They will work with students at the Western Galilee College and with student villages in the city. Rabbi Natan Yitzchak Auerbach, the main Shliach in Acre, welcomed the new shlichim at a special gathering with fellow shlichim and members of the Chabad institutions’ leadership: Rabbi Avraham Harosh, Rabbi Yosef Mekamel, and Rabbi Menachem Mendel Auerbach.
Rabbi Moshe Shilat, the director of Chabad Campus Israel, describes the development:
“This year, after Simchas Torah, we decided to intensify Chabad Campus activities at colleges that previously did not have full-time shlichim for various reasons. We began operating in over 20 new locations, some of which are relatively small and lack student dormitories. From these locations, we observed throughout the year that there is real potential for placing full-time shlichim. Safed and Acre are the first cities to receive new shlichim, and we hope to expand to additional locations soon, G-d willing.
“It is a great merit for us to send new shlichim of the Rebbe to cities on the front lines in the northern part of Eretz Yisrael at this time, thus helping in the victory of the Jewish people in the war and the coming of Moshiach Tzidkeinu.”
