    New Shluchim to South Portugal

Rabbi Menachem and Chana Wagner (nee Reiter), along with their children, Chaya Mushka and Mendel, have been appointed as new Shluchim to Southern Portugal’s Algarve region • Full Story

Rabbi Menachem and Chana Wagner (née Reiter), along with their children Chaya Mushka and Mendel, have been appointed by Rabbi Eli Rosenfeld as the new Shluchim to Chabad of South Portugal. They will be launching the region’s very first Chabad Center in the picturesque Algarve, a popular area in Southern Portugal.

The Wagners bring with them a deep-rooted dedication to The Rebbe’s mission, shaped by their own upbringing as Shluchim of the Rebbe. Rabbi Wagner served in Johannesburg, South Africa, while Chana Wagner’s roots lie in Roslyn, New York. Their commitment to continuing the Rebbe’s legacy of outreach and service to the Jewish community is at the heart of their new endeavor.

The Algarve, known as the “California of Europe,” draws over 5 million tourists annually, along with a growing community of Israeli expats and over 100,000 international retirees. As more Jewish families and individuals settle in the region, the need for a Chabad house has become increasingly apparent.

With years of experience leading Chabad initiatives for all ages, Rabbi Menachem and Chana Wagner are eager to establish a warm, welcoming Jewish community that fosters a strong sense of belonging and spiritual growth.

“We are thrilled to open the first Chabad Center in Southern Portugal,” says Rabbi Menachem and Chana Wagner. “Our goal is to bring the warmth of Jewish tradition to this vibrant community, embodying the Rebbe’s mission to reach every Jew, wherever they may be.”

To support this groundbreaking project, the Wagners are running a three-day Charidy campaign to raise the necessary funds to launch the new Chabad center.

Join them in this exciting initiative to establish South Portugal’s first-ever Chabad house and be a part of this transformative effort to enrich Jewish life in the Algarve!
