A new chapter for the Jewish community in Didsbury begins as Rabbi Mendel and Mushka Vilenkin announce their exciting new Shlichus mission to the area. With a deep sense of gratitude and joy, the couple, along with their daughter Tzivia, is set to establish a vibrant Chabad Center that will serve as a beacon of warmth, love, and Jewish education for the community.
The Vilenkins’ new center will offer a wide range of services designed to bring the teachings of Torah and the joy of Yiddishkeit to Jews of all backgrounds. “With Hashem’s blessing and the Rebbe’s guidance, we are thrilled to embark on this special mission,” said Rabbi Mendel. “Our goal is to reach every Jewish soul in Didsbury, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey, and bring them closer to their heritage.”
The Chabad Center will feature an array of programming, including Torah classes, Shabbat and Yom Tov meals, children’s programming like Mommy & Me and Ckids, a Women’s Circle, adult education, and much more. The Vilenkins plan to make the center a true home for the Jewish community, with an open-door policy that will welcome anyone at any time of day or night.
Rabbi Mendel, originally from Crown Heights, Brooklyn, has long been involved in Jewish outreach. From a young age, he developed a deep passion for helping others, spending many hours on Mivtzoim, reaching out to fellow Jews, and bringing them closer to Judaism. His summers spent at the Chabad House in Chautauqua, New York, where his parents serve as directors, further solidified his dedication to Jewish outreach. Over the years, Rabbi Mendel’s commitment to serving others has only deepened, and he is eager to bring that same energy and enthusiasm to Didsbury.
Mushka, who grew up just a short drive away in Cheadle, UK, is equally excited to return to the area and be part of this transformative mission. “It’s incredibly meaningful for me to come back to the community where I grew up, and I’m thrilled to be working alongside Mendel and our daughter Tzivia to make a positive difference here,” she said. “We can’t wait to share the warmth, joy, and love of Yiddishkeit with everyone in Didsbury.”
The Vilenkins expressed their gratitude for the support they’ve received thus far and emphasized how crucial the community’s involvement is to the success of the project. “Your partnership will allow us to bring light to Didsbury and help us fulfill this important mission of bringing Jews closer to their heritage,” Rabbi Mendel said.
As they begin this exciting new chapter, the Vilenkins are filled with optimism and hope. “May we all merit the coming of Moshiach, now!” they concluded.
The Chabad Center is set to open its doors in the coming months, and the Vilenkins are eager to begin welcoming members of the community.
