Do you know someone who wants to go kosher, but is faced with the challenge of living with their family that doesn’t?
Kashrus: Be in the Know has just released a revised edition of Kosher Without a Kitchen: Written by Rabbi Nissan Zibell, and it’s now available for purchase on Amazon.
Very often, the kosher-consuming Jew can feel out of place. Whether it is a businessman in a hotel during a conference, or an employee eating lunch at their workplace, kosher consumers must sometimes navigate their way in a non-kosher kitchen. This becomes especially difficult when it is a Ba’al/as Teshuvah in his or her parents’ home, because there are many sensitive details to take into consideration. The purpose of this booklet is to offer some points of guidance and practical advice to those faced with the challenge of keeping Kosher while living with their family that does not keep Kosher.

In this auspicious month of Elul, it’s an opportune time to encourage others to take on this mitvah. As the Rebbe writes, “… Similarly in our time – the last days of exile – it is necessary for there to be an extra strengthening in the observance of Kashrus and Taharas Hamishpacha as a preparation and introduction to entering into Eretz Yisroel with the redemption through our righteous Moshiach.” (Likkutei Sichos, Volume 13, Page 297)
May our efforts to strengthen kashrus lead us to the ultimate bracha with the coming of the Geulah Sheleima now!
