In a modest yet significant ceremony, a new mikvah was inaugurated in Limassol, Cyprus.

The Mikvah Taharah was built in honor of and through the generosity of Mrs. Tamara Berger and her family, in the Ayios Tychonas neighborhood. The inauguration of the mikvah is part of the 10-year anniversary celebrations of Chabad of Limassol and the growth of the local Jewish community, led by the community’s rabbi and Chabad shliach, Rabbi Yair Beitch, and his wife.

The event opened with heartfelt remarks from Rabbi Ariye Zeev Raskin, the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus and head Chabad shliach, who emphasized the growing sanctity and purity within the Jewish community of Cyprus. He noted that this mikvah—likely the first ever in Limassol’s history—is expected to be the first of several to be built throughout the city. It joins the other mikvaot in Cyprus that serve Jewish families and visitors across the country.

Rabbi Beitch, together with his father-in-law, Rabbi Baruch Boaz Yurkowitz, Rabbi of the Chabad community in Lod and head of the ‘Beis Din Heichal Lubavitch,’ had the honor of affixing the mezuzah. This was followed by the affixing of mezuzot on the main and outer entrances of the mikvah by Rabbi Raskin and Rabbi Jurkowitz. The celebration continued with a festive meal.

It is noteworthy that the maintenance and construction of mikvaot in Cyprus are under the strict and continuous supervision of the Chief Rabbinate of Cyprus, led by Rabbi Raskin, along with top experts in the field. Additionally, numerous classes and lectures on family purity are regularly held, and, with G-d’s help, the efforts are yielding blessed results.
