The test was administered by Rabbi Zalman Yaroslavsky, Rabbi of the Chabad community in Elad, in the presence of the Yeshiva’s Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Yossia Feldman. Rabbi Yaroslavsky expressed his admiration for the students’ exceptional knowledge and mastery of the material.
Later in the day, Rabbi Yaroslavsky visited the office of Hungary’s Chief Rabbi and Head Shliach, Rabbi Shlomo Köves, who spearheaded the Yeshiva’s founding. During their meeting, they discussed various halachic matters, and Rabbi Yaroslavsky was shown Rabbi Köves’ own Smicha exam on Basar BeChalav, which he had taken under Rabbi Yaroslavsky’s father, Rabbi Yitzchak Yehuda Yaroslavsky, nearly 25 years ago.
The test took place in the Chavras Shas – Chabad synagogue in Budapest’s historic Jewish quarter, where the students study Halacha each morning. The synagogue is led by Rabbi Baruch Oberlander, Shliach to Hungary and Av Beis Din of the Kehillos HaChariedim of Budapest.
