It was at the very place where the first public ignition was initiated in 1995, under the mandate of previous president of France and former mayor of Neuilly, Nicolas Sarkozy, that Rabbi David Zaoui, the Rebbe’s Shliach of Neuilly-sur-Seine, has gathered nearly a crowd of a thousand around the giant Menora lit by the famous French actor and comedian, Kev (Moshe) Adams, especially come for the occasion.
A grandiose ceremony was held in the presence of the Mayor of Neuilly, Mr. JC Fromantin, Mr. François-Xavier Dupont, responsible for worship, of the Deputy of the Hauts de Seine, Mrs Constance Le Grip, Rabbi Michael Azoulay, Rabbi of Neuilly, Mr Elie Korchia, Vice-president of the Consistory of Paris and President of the Council of Communities of 92, Dr Gil Taiëb, Vice-president of the FSJU, administrators and representatives of the Communities of the Ancelle Synagogue, Alef Center, Centre Français du Judaïsme Tunisien and Beth ‘Habad-Loubavitch Centre of Neuilly, gathered for the occasion under the banner of the Unified Jewish Community of Neuilly.
