Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday as part of a high-profile visit to Washington that also included attendance at the funeral of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Israel’s closest allies in the United States senate.
The White House meeting marked the first face-to-face talks between the two leaders since the joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Iran earlier this year.
Discussions focused on regional security, preventing Iran from rebuilding its military and nuclear capabilities, strengthening the U.S.-Israel alliance, expanding the Abraham Accords, and other strategic issues affecting the Middle East. Both Trump and Netanyahu described their meeting in positive terms following the talks.
Before departing Israel, Netanyahu said he was traveling to Washington with “one clear goal”—to ensure “the security, strength, and future of Israel.” He emphasized that the discussions with President Trump come at a critical time for Israel’s security and regional diplomacy.
Following their White House meeting, Trump and Netanyahu attended the funeral service for Senator Lindsey Graham. Also in attendance were Vice President JD Vance, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, congressional leaders, senior administration officials, and foreign dignitaries. Trump described Graham as “a force to be reckoned with all over the world,” praising his decades of influence on American foreign policy.
Throughout his career, Graham was widely regarded as one of Israel’s strongest advocates in the U.S. Senate. A steadfast supporter of the Jewish people, he consistently championed military aid to Israel, efforts to counter Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and the expansion of the Abraham Accords. His close friendship with Israeli leaders, including Netanyahu, earned him deep respect across much of Israeli society, where he was remembered as a loyal friend of both Israel and the Jewish people.
