Netanyahu Visits Syrian Side of Mount Hermon

Prime minister visits site taken over by IDF with heads of the defense establishment; ‘We are here at a crossroads to decide on Israel’s preparedness in this important place’ • Read More

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will continue to maintain its presence on Syrian territory until “appropriate arrangements” are made to ensure security and stability. Speaking from Mount Hermon, a strategically important location on the Golan Heights, Netanyahu emphasized that the Israeli Defense Forces incursion into the Syrian buffer zone is purely defensive.

“The security of Israel and our citizens is paramount,” Netanyahu said, referring to ongoing concerns over the presence of hostile forces near the Golan Heights. “We will remain here until the necessary arrangements are made to ensure our protection.”

The Golan Heights, which Israel captured from Syria during the 1967 Six-Day War and later annexed, has been a point of tension between the two countries for decades.

While Netanyahu did not elaborate on the nature of the “appropriate arrangements” he referenced, his remarks underscore Israel’s commitment to maintaining its security posture in the Golan Heights for the foreseeable future.

It is important to keep in mind, that mount Hermon – including the so called “Syrian side”, is Halachicly part of Eretz Yisrael.
