MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber said the redesign reflects the agency’s commitment to modernizing the transit system and enhancing the rider experience. The map features a bold, diagrammatic layout with improved readability, a more detailed legend, and a QR code linking to real-time updates.
Inspired by past designs, the map preserves familiar color schemes while refining its layout for digital and print use. It is already displayed on station screens and will be gradually introduced in subway cars.
The MTA is also upgrading digital station displays, increasing real-time update frequency, and adding clearer train arrival indicators. The new subway map and past versions are available for download on the MTA website.
