We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Mrs. Teibel Brod, the matriarch of a large Chabad family and a long-time resident of Crown Heights. She passed away on Acharon Shel Pesach, 5785.
She was 99 years old.
Taibel was born in Kremenchuk, Ukraine, to her parents Reb Yitzchok Dovid and Chava Gorchover.
She was among the many chassidim on the famous escape trains to Poland. She ended up in the DP camp of Poking, where married her husband Reb Chatzkel Brod.
A few years later, she and her husband made their way to the United States and settled in Crown Heights. She was very much dedicated to Bikur Cholom, for which she volunteered every day for many years, as well as the Chevra Kadisha.
She is survived by her children: Chavie Chazan – Nachalas Har Chabad, Eretz Yisroel, Shterna Weiss – Crown Heights, Rabbi Yossel Brod – Los Angeles; Rabbi SB Brod – Crown Heights; and Rabbi Yisroel Brod – Eretz Yisroel, and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rabbi Yechezkel Brod OBM.
The Levaya will take place today, Monday, passing by 770 Easter Parkway at 10:45 am.
Shiva will be held at 414 Sterling St.
