The check revealed that the rider was a 17-year-old Palestinian, who did not have a permit to enter Israel. Further investigation revealed that the motorcycle was stolen and intended to be smuggled into Palestinian Authority territory.

Police database checks confirmed that the motorcycle belonged to a resident of central Israel. Officers also discovered signs of forced entry and cut wires on the vehicle.

The teenager was arrested and brought in for questioning at the Shafat station. During the interrogation, he claimed that he had entered Israel to visit the beach and was convinced by others he met there to steal the motorcycle.

He is being investigated for vehicle theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, driving without a license, and illegal entry into Israel. The court granted a police request to extend his detention until Tuesday.

The police stated: “Jerusalem District officers continue to act decisively against property offenders, wherever they may be, who threaten public safety and security — alongside targeted enforcement against illegal entrants from the territories.”
