Moscow: Joyous Hachnasas Sefer Torah Celebration at the Solomon Hills Community

A moving inauguration ceremony was held at the Chabad House of the Solomon Hills community in Moscow’s Pokrovsky Hills neighborhood, marking the dedication of two Torah scrolls. The event, attended by a large gathering of local residents and guests from across the city, was filled with joy, unity, and spiritual elevation • Full Story, Photos

The Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar, was honored with writing the final letters in the scrolls, alongside his son Rabbi Yechezkel Lazar, the Rabbi of the Solomon Hills community. Other honorees included Rabbi Alexander Boroda, President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, Mr. Avraham Asher Zhurov, the event’s primary benefactor, and Mr. Dan-Shimshon Gurevich, the congregation’s president.

One of the Torah scrolls featured a traditional Ashkenazi style, while the second was a Sephardic scroll housed in a uniquely ornate case. This case included a meticulously crafted model of the Third Beis Hamikdash, incorporating gold and silver — expressing devotion through beauty.

Mr. Zhurov received two symbolic gifts in recognition of his generosity: a miniature glass-encased replica of the Torah scroll and a stone from the courtyard of  770, the Chabad World Headquarters in Brooklyn, symbolizing the community’s deep connection to global Jewish life and the source of its spiritual inspiration.
