Before Purim, Oholei Yosef Yitzchok Lubavitch (OYYL) organized a special “Mommy and Me Hamentaschen Decor” event in preparation for the joyous holiday of Purim. Dozens of mothers and their young children flocked to the event center to engage in hands-on arts and crafts together while getting into the Purim spirit.

The free event was spearheaded by OYYL administrators Sheli Atara Man and Mila Schneiderman who saw it as an opportunity to facilitate bonding between parents and children. With Purim just around the corner and families busy with preparations, the event encouraged moms to take some time out of their schedules to focus meaningfully on their little ones.

Upon arrival, families were greeted with a spread of colorful frostings, sprinkles, candies and other decorations to embellish their hamentaschen. Children busied themselves rolling dough, shaping triangles and getting creative with the toppings as their mothers guided beside them. Laughter and smiles filled the room as the families engaged in quality time together crafting their sweet treats.

By the end of the event, dozens of uniquely decorated hamentashen were complete, ready to be taken home and baked in time for the Purim feast. Both children and parents expressed their enjoyment of the bonding experience. As one mother noted, “It was so nice to look over and see my daughter smiling and focused while I helped her. Special events like this really facilitate important family moments.”

The “Mommy and Me Hamentaschen Decor” was yet another successful example of community bonding just in time for the joyous Yom Tov of Purim.
