Miracle in Kyiv: Drone Strikes Jewish School, Heavy Damage Reported
Kyiv’s Jewish school, “Perlina,” part of the ‘Or Avner Chabad’ network, faced a harrowing situation last night when a Russian drone struck the building just hours before students were set to arrive. The reinforced windows, equipped with protective film, successfully minimized further damage to the interior. Nevertheless, classrooms, the school shuttle, and the student lounge sustained extensive harm.
A gas station situated just 50 meters away from the explosion was fortunately unscathed.
Rabbi Yonatan Markovitch, Kyiv’s Chief Rabbi, along with Rebbetzin Elka Ina Markovitch, visited the site alongside local police and officials to evaluate the extent of the damage and discuss plans for continuing educational activities.
“We experienced a remarkable miracle that no students were present during the explosion,” Rabbi Markovitch remarked. “The spirit of Torah and Jewish education in Kyiv will remain unshaken. Just as we have continued our operations throughout the war, we will keep nurturing our children’s souls during these challenging times.”
The Chabad network in Ukraine, known as JRNU, is conducting a thorough assessment of the damage. The “Perlina” school has been a crucial support for the local Jewish community, maintaining operations since the war began.
