Long-Awaited Halt on Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Announced After Ceasefire Breakdown
In a move that many have been waiting for, Israel’s political echelon has finally decided to halt the transfer of so called “humanitarian aid” to the Gaza Strip following the breakdown of the first phase of the ceasefire. This decision, made this morning (Sunday), comes after Hamas refused to accept the framework proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, for continuing negotiations on the hostages deal • Read More
The Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement confirming that Israel had agreed to the ceasefire terms outlined by Witkoff. However, with Hamas’ rejection of the proposed terms, Israel has made the long-awaited decision to stop the entry of all goods and supplies into Gaza. The statement emphasized that the ceasefire cannot continue unless all hostages are returned.
“Israel will not allow a ceasefire without the release of our hostages,” the statement declared. “If Hamas continues to refuse, there will be consequences.”
Footage of aid trucks arriving at the Gaza border earlier this morning showed the convoys being turned away, unable to enter as the crossing point was closed. The Prime Minister’s spokesman clarified that the trucks were stopped because Israel maintains its firm position regarding the return of hostages.
Israel estimates that the humanitarian aid that has already entered Gaza will last between four and six months.
Otzma Yehudit Chairman MK Itamar Ben–Gvir hailed the decision, calling it a long-overdue and crucial step. “Finally, the decision has been made. Better late than never,” he said. “This policy should continue until the last of the hostages is returned.”
Ben-Gvir also reiterated his call for Israel to escalate military action. “Now is the time to open the gates of hell, to stop the electricity and water, to return to war, and most importantly, not to settle for only half of the hostages. President Trump’s ultimatum should stand: all the hostages immediately, or hell will break loose on Gaza.”
