The Jewish community in Kyoto, Japan, under the leadership of Rabbi Mordechai Gromach, celebrated a historic milestone with the ceremony of pouring the foundation of a new Mikvah for the women of the community and the many tourists visiting the city.
This Mikvah is the only one in Kyoto and its surroundings.
The construction process was supervised by Rabbi Baruch Boaz Yurkovitz, the Rabbi of Chabad Community in Lod, along with the guidance of mikvah expert Rabbi Gershon Grossbaum.
After the pouring, a “L’Chaim” ceremony took place, where everyone wished for the swift completion of the construction, which will bring joy and Brachos to the community.
“This is a significant milestone for the Jewish community,” said Rabbi Binyamin Edery, Chief Rabbi of Japan and Shliach of the Rebbe to Tokyo. “We continue to develop and expand our activities, adding purity throughout Japan! The construction of this modern and sophisticated Mikvah here holds great importance for the development of the community and the many tourists. It’s a tremendous blessing and privilege, and I invite everyone to participate.”
