The Kazakhstan customs agents and police, security agents and passport control authorities were amused at the sight of lively spiriting dancing at the entrance to the Almaty – Alma Ata – busy international airport.

Chief Rabbi and Shliach of Kazakhstan Rabbi Yeshaye Cohen welcomed the group of fourteen excelling students.

“We, the community in Alma Ata are grateful to Philanthropist Avi Shaulson and Philanthropist Shmuel Stern for sponsoring the Yeshiva as you the young students are testimony to the continuity of Judaism for which the Rebbe’s father sacrificed his life” said Chief Rabbi of Kazakhstan Rabbi Cohen.

“It is heartwarming to see representatives of so many Yeshivas as each of the students is the representative of another Yeshiva in Israel” said the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Mordechei Cohen.

After a short tour of the Synagague and the campus including the multiple buildings, Study Hall and Dining Hall, the students went to rest from their journey.

Following a Chassidic Farbrengen with Chief Rabbi Cohen, the students prepared themselves for a visit to the Ohel of the Rebbe’s father. The students recited the customary Ma’aneh Loshon and sang Nigunim of all the Rabeiym, culminating with the Hakofos Nigun of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, OB”M.

A detailed study schedule and community wide activities has been prepared to maximize the inspiration of the students’ participation in Yeshivas Oholei Levi Yitzchak of Alma Ata.
