More than 150 Jewish university students and young professionals from across Russia and additional FSU countries participated in YAHAD’s unique opening event in Moscow, marking the simultaneous opening of three major seminars and additional winter programs tailored for Jewish youth in the upcoming months.
The uplifting and energetic event was honored with the presence of the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar, who delivered opening words of wisdom and later led a question-and-answer session with the participating youngsters.
Following Rabbi Mendy Wilanski, the director of the Federation of Jewish Communities (FJC) YAHAD youth organization, inspired the participants to grasp the opportunity and make the best use of the materials, content, and enhancement provided in the seminars and programs. “All this wonderful experience was created especially for each of you to ensure you can become future leaders deeply connected to your roots as a source of inspiration.”
Representatives of each of the seminars and programs—the Torah Boys Club, Girls Yeshivcation, YAHAD Leadership School, and the Fest Winter Seminars—presented their plans and the uniqueness of this year’s programs and experiences in the upcoming months.
“The amazing devotion and care expressed by the participants for the Jewish communities and youth,” says Esther Shustin from YAHAD’s central office, “now and in the future, sums up what this special event was all about: utilizing the youth’s energy to strengthen and empower each individual.”
