Hundreds of directors, activists, and key figures from the diverse projects and organizations of the Federation of Jewish Communities (FJC), operating across the former Soviet Union, convened at the Leonardo Plaza Hotel in Yerushalayim, Israel, for a historic conference. The gathering aimed to strengthen, develop, expand, and enhance the extensive activities serving hundreds of thousands of Jews and communities in more than 11 countries.
The first day of the conference focused on fostering deeper connections among participants, enabling them to learn about each other’s projects, goals, and operational plans. The morning session featured an inspiring opening ceremony with speeches by representatives of the various initiatives, accompanied by promotional videos displayed on a large screen.
The keynote speakers included FJC leaders, CEO Rabbi David Mondshine, Rabbi Shlomi Peles, and Rabbi Shlomo Neeman, who outlined the Federation’s compelling history since its inception and highlighted the transformations experienced by Jews in the former Soviet Union over recent decades.
The subsequent days were dedicated to the professional creation of action plans for 2025, emphasizing collaboration and leveraging the capabilities and influence of parallel organizations and projects. Professional consultants guided these sessions and supported the skilled managers in refining and amplifying their efforts.
Beyond the intense teamwork, participants enjoyed uplifting experiences such as guided tours of Yerushalayim’s Old City, the Western Wall Tunnels, and Chevron. Workshops, attractions, and additional events blended enrichment and inspiration.
“It was awe-inspiring,” shared Rabbi Neeman, “to witness the energy and high motivation of the talented individuals leading initiatives that impact hundreds of thousands of families and individuals every day, sharing love and Jewish values.”
Prominent participating projects and organizations included the ‘Or Avner ‘Jewish Educational Network, the Jewish heritage studies program ‘Darkeinu’, the ‘Atidenu’ Organization, the ‘EnerJew’ youth movement, the YAHAD and the Stars youth projects for students and young professionals. Humanitarian efforts such as JRNU, LifeChanger, and ForLife were also represented, alongside informal education initiatives like SmartJ, JFuture, SkillUp, Ohr Menachem, the Camp Gan Israel summer network, and others.
