In a gesture of unity and support, the Jewish community of Dnipro donated a new Torah scroll to the growing Jewish community in Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine.
The Torah was welcomed with a festive inauguration ceremony on the eve of Yom Kippur at the Synagogue and JCC of Khmelnytskyi. Distinguished guests from Dnipro, including philanthropists, the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro, Shmuel Kaminetzky, and a representative of the National Sofer Center, attended and honored the occasion.
At the beginning of the event, each guest, along with many community members, had the honor of writing a letter in the Torah. Rabbi Kaminetzky, Rabbi Yosef Teitelbaum of Khmelnytskyi, and esteemed community members completed the final letters.
The Torah scroll was then wrapped in its embroidered cover and brought into the synagogue in a festive procession, accompanied by “Hakafot”—joyous dances with the Torah. Later, participants gathered for a celebratory meal.
On behalf of the Khmelnytskyi community, the city’s Chief Rabbi, Yosef Teitelbaum, thanked the donors and presented them with commemorative plaques as a gesture of gratitude.
The scroll’s embroidered case bears a heartfelt dedication: “This Torah is dedicated to the Chabad community of Khmelnytskyi in honor of the Rebbe’s Shliach, Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzky,” with blessings for the donors’ health and success.
