Israel’s Minister of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage, Amichai Eliyah, visited the Chabad House at Rutgers University.

The Heritage Minister, who is currently visiting the United States, expressed his surprise and admiration when he arrived at Rutgers and saw firsthand the thriving community of Jewish students. There are currently 7,000 Jewish students attending Rutgers, marking this university as the number one destination for students in the USA. The minister saw the preparations for the first campus event of the year, J-Cafe, which attracted 500 students on Tuesday night. He toured the dorms at the Chabad House, which houses some 100 students.

Chabad Shluchim at Rutgers, Rabbis Yosef Carlebach, Mendy Carlebach, Baruch Goodman, and Mendy Pevzner, joined the minister for a tour of the 90,000 sq ft mega Chabad House.

The Shluchim gifted the minister with a Tehillim printed in New Brunswick, and from which prayers are said daily for the return of all the hostages. The meeting included a discussion of deepening the ties of Jewish students and the larger NJ Jewish community and Israel.
