The declaration, made under the authority granted by Israel’s Civil Defense Law, comes amid intelligence warnings of an imminent large-scale missile and drone attack by Iran targeting Israeli population centers.

“Due to the heightened threat of a direct assault on the Israel and its civilian population, I have signed a special emergency order applying to the entire country,” said Katz. “The safety of Israeli citizens is our highest priority.”

Under the emergency status, all civilians are urged to strictly follow the instructions of the Home Front Command, remain alert, and stay within protected areas as directed.

The move signals Israel’s readiness for a potentially significant confrontation and reflects the government’s concern over the possibility of immediate retaliation by Iran or its proxies.

Further updates and instructions are expected to be issued by national security agencies as the situation develops.

Explosions were reported in Tehran early Friday morning by Iranian channels linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), while sirens sounded across Israel, signaling elevated alert levels nationwide.

Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the emergency declaration in light of intelligence indicating that Iran and its proxies may launch a significant assault in response. “Following a preemptive strike by the State of Israel against Iran, a missile and drone attack is expected against Israel and its civilian population in the immediate timeframe,” Katz said.

Invoking powers under the Civil Defense Law, Katz signed a special emergency order, placing the entire countryunder special civil emergency status, requiring heightened preparedness and compliance with security directives.

The IDF’s Home Front Command also announced new emergency guidelines, effective as of 3:00 AM Friday, including:

• Suspension of all educational activities

• Ban on public gatherings

• Closure of non-essential workplaces

• Movement restricted to essential services only

Citizens across Israel are urged to remain in protected spaces, monitor official updates, and strictly follow the instructions of the Home Front Command.

“This is a developing security situation. The Israeli defense establishment is on high alert, and all civilian precautions must be taken seriously,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said.

The government has not yet confirmed the full scope of Israel’s preemptive strike or the specific targets hit within Iran.
