Parts of a letter by Shmais CEO & Founder Levi Hodakov

On 18 Tishray 5758 I started what is now known the world over as SHMAIS.com, with a motto of “Keeping Lubavitchers Informed”.

Back then, during what could be described to our base as the Internet’s infancy, it was a small group of couple dozen friends and family to whom I would email articles of interest.

Hashem was kind to me and with time it grew and grew and grew.

Fast forward to 5775. It’s not enough to update once a day. With a huge chunk of web traffic coming from smart phones readers and visitors are looking for updates every minute.

Lubavitch was much smaller then too. The number of Mazel Tovs you can have on one day now k”ah, would sometimes pass for an entire week’s worth in 5758.

Nine and ½ years ago my family and I had the great merit to join the Rebbe’s Army, and just over three years ago we had an even greater merit to open our very own Chabad House.

Today, hundreds of millions of visits later, I announce that I am putting SHMAIS.com up for sale, with proceeds going to support Chabad.
