Inspiring: Campus Shliach Donates Kidney, Discovers His Surgeon is Jewish

In a moving act of selflessness, Rabbi Yossi Sued (27), Chabad Shliach at Western University in London, Ontario, donated a kidney last Friday to a woman named Ronit, a single mother in need of a life-saving transplant • Full Story

Inspired by friends and cousins who had also donated kidneys, Rabbi Sued said: “It’s a tremendous privilege to be able to give someone a new lease on life. I’m so thankful to Hashem for this opportunity, and especially to my wife for her incredible support throughout this journey.”

Ronit, who began caring for her mother with kidney failure at just 15, was overwhelmed with gratitude: “I felt I wasn’t alone anymore. Dialysis no longer felt like a life sentence. I’ll never forget the call saying a match had been found—my daughter and I cried tears of joy together. The kindness and dedication of the Renewal organization made the impossible feel real.”

But the story didn’t end there. Following the transplant, Rabbi Sued discovered that his surgeon was Jewish. True to his role as The Rebbe’s Shliach, he offered the doctor the chance to put on Tefillin, turning the post-op moment into a deeply emotional and spiritual one for them both.
