In Memory of the 45 Kedoshim of Meron: Tanya Printed at Site of Tragedy
At the site of the Meron disaster, where 45 holy souls tragically lost their lives four years ago, a moving Tanya printing was held in their memory. The event was attended by the Rebbe’s Shluchim and a volunteer who was active at the scene on that difficult night. On Tuesday, 8 Iyar, at Mount Meron, near the resting place of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, at the very location known as the “Path of Death”—where the terrible Lag BaOmer tragedy occurred in 5781 (2021) claiming 45 lives—an emotional printing of a special edition of the Tanya was held in memory and for the elevation of the souls of the victims. Among them was Rabbi Ariel Tzadik, of blessed memory, a dedicated and active Chabad Chassid known for spreading Chassidus and carrying out the Rebbe’s holy Mivtzoim.
Present at the event and participating in the printing were Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Halperin, the Rebbe’s Shliach to Moshav Meron; Rabbi Shmuel Reinitz, the Rebbe’s Shliach to Beit She’an; and United Hatzalah volunteer Yechiel Roshczky, who was at the scene during the disaster, actively saving lives and caring for the injured. His participation in the Tanya printing at that very location served as a deeply personal and symbolic act of remembrance for the souls he helped that night.
Following The Rebbe’s directive, Rabbi Halperin taught a passage from the freshly printed Tanya. In a moving act of Divine Providence, the study portion for that day was Chapter 45—the very number of lives lost in the tragedy.
The printing was initiated by Rabbi Izzy Morgenstern and Aharon Freiman.
This edition of the Tanya is dedicated to the memory and spiritual elevation of the Meron victims, for the merit and immediate return of all the hostages, for the safety of Israel’s defense and rescue forces—especially the dedicated volunteers who acted during the disaster—and for the entire Jewish people, with prayers for the imminent arrival of Moshiach.
