IDF to Resume Gaza Aid Flow Despite Hamas Control, Stalled Hostage Talks

Despite little to no progress in securing the release of Israeli hostages or dismantling Hamas’ grip on Gaza, the IDF is preparing to restart the flow of humanitarian aid — a move that undermines Israel’s strategic goals and rewards terrorism • Read More

According to Yediot Aharonot, the IDF recently presented a new metric dubbed the “humanitarian dimmer,” which calculates how long Gaza’s food and energy supplies will last. Current estimates suggest the Strip still has enough resources to endure for another month — yet the military is moving ahead with plans to resume aid deliveries anyway.

A new pilot program near Rafah is set to begin soon, where IDF troops will supervise aid distribution to Gazan civilians in cooperation with international aid organizations. The stated goal is to ensure “compliance” with international law and shield both political and military leaders from potential prosecution. However, the effort raises questions: if Hamas continues to steal and resell aid, as even Israeli defense sources admit, how can the IDF justify facilitating a process that sustains the enemy?

During the recent 43-day ceasefire, Israel allowed a staggering 600 trucks per day into Gaza — triple the wartime average. Yet less than half of this aid reached the so called “civilian” population. Hamas reportedly seized the majority, using it to maintain control and profit from its sale on the black market.

The Israeli Supreme Court, surprised many last month by unanimously rejecting a petition that claimed Israel was legally obligated to ensure humanitarian supplies reach Gaza. Chief Justice Yitzhak Amit clarified that Israel does not directly provide aid but merely permits it under government orders.

Despite this legal green light to take a harder stance, the IDF has chosen a path that weakens Israel’s leverage, emboldens Hamas, and demoralizes the Israeli public. “We’re feeding the very organization that is holding our citizens hostage,” one former military official remarked anonymously. “This is not humanitarianism — it’s surrender disguised as strategy.”

In a statement following the report, the IDF emphasized that it operates under the direction of the political echelon and that “no aid is transferred to Hamas.” But on the ground, the reality tells a different story — one where humanitarian trucks double as lifelines not only for civilians, but for a terror regime still very much in power.
