The IDF and Shin Bet announced Wednesday that they eliminated Musa Abd Muhammad Hamouda, a Nukhba terrorist in Hamas’s military wing who took part in planning the explosive device attack that killed four soldiers from the 52nd Armored Battalion on September 8, 2025.
Hamouda was eliminated Sunday in an airstrike in the Gaza City area, in a joint operation by the IDF and the Shin Bet.
The attack took place during Operation Gideon’s Chariots, when terrorists threw an explosive device into a tank belonging to the 52nd Battalion. The tank caught fire, and all four members of its crew were killed: Lt. Matan Abramovitz HY”D, Sgt. Amit Aryeh Regev HY”D, Staff Sgt. Uri Lamed HY”D, and Sgt. Gadi Cotal HY”D. Another soldier was wounded in the incident.
The IDF said Hamouda’s elimination marks a significant closing of the circle for the 162nd Division, under whose command the four soldiers were serving when they fell.
The strike was carried out by the 215th Fire Brigade, which operates under the same division.
According to the IDF and Shin Bet, the terrorist had repeatedly operated against IDF forces in the Gaza Strip throughout the war and was involved in additional terrorist activity targeting soldiers.
In recent weeks, he continued advancing plans for terrorist attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians while working to restore Hamas’s military capabilities.
Security officials said his activities constituted systematic violations of the ceasefire and that the strike was carried out to remove the threat he posed.
The IDF and Shin Bet further stated that Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to act against security threats as they emerge.
