The IDF conducted an airstrike in Beirut, to eliminate the Hezbollah commander responsible for the murder of 12 Israeli children in Majdal Shams.
Fuad Shukr was a senior advisor on military affairs to Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, and was the chief commander responsible for all of Hezbollah’s military operations.
Shukr was also wanted by the FBI, with a $5 million bounty in his head, for his involvement in the 1983 bombing of the marines barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 U.S. service members.
Although initial reports indicated that Shukr escaped the building moments before the bombing, more recent reports indicate that his body was pulled from the rubble. This is still not 100% confirmed, but seems highly likely.
