Following the search, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed that two individuals who had entered Israel illegally were apprehended near the border. The suspects were taken into custody and transferred to security forces for further investigation. No injuries were reported among IDF personnel.
This incident comes just days after Israeli security forces exposed a major weapons smuggling network operating along the Jordanian border. In a coordinated effort involving the Shin Bet, the IDF, and the Magan Unit of the Southern District Police, authorities uncovered a sophisticated operation responsible for trafficking weapons from Jordan into Israel and subsequently to Judea and Samaria.
The investigation, which had been conducted covertly for months, led to the recent arrests of nine Arab-Israeli suspects from the Negev, the village of Bir Hadaj, and the Palestinian Authority. All were identified as active members of the smuggling network.
Security officials emphasized that they remain vigilant against security threats along the Jordanian border and continue to take decisive action to prevent weapon smuggling and unauthorized crossings into Israel.
