Ravid Chaim was born under tragic circumstances after his mother, Tze’ela Gez Hy”d, was shot and critically wounded by a terrorists near the town of Bruchin while en route to the hospital to give birth. Despite her husband Hananel’s heroic efforts to save her life while injured himself, Tze’ela succumbed to her wounds. Doctors managed to deliver the baby via emergency procedure at the hospital.
The newborn was given the name “Ravid,” as per his mother’s wish, with the addition of “Chaim” — life — as a prayer and plea for his survival.
Although doctors initially reported signs of improvement in his condition, Ravid Chaim remained in critical condition in the NICU. On Thursday morning, the family was informed that he had passed away.
The Samaria Regional Council expressed their heartbreak in a public statement, mourning the loss of two precious lives in a single act of violence.
The attack that claimed the lives of both mother and child was carried out by terrorists from the nearby village of Burqin.
